The Meesapulimala Trek- Munnar- 10 Hrs- Cost 5800 Per Person

Walk through the high altitude grasslands and montaine rainforest eco-system so peculiar to the Western Ghats. Ascend Meesapulimala, enjoy the breathtaking views of the vast plains of Tamilnadu on your east and the never ending Sahyadri on your west.Reach Munnar by 8 am. You will be met by our representative and will be transferred towards Silent Valley, the start point of the trek, which is about 26 Kms from Munnar. We will be starting the trek from an altitude of 1500 m gradually ascending to over 2600m, passing through  sholas  (high altitude rain forests) and grasslands which are typical to the higher areas of the Western Ghats. The area also has wildlife – notably elephants, sambar, sloth bear and the Nilgiri tahr - the latter being endemic and endangered. We will head along paths over the undulating mountain grasslands and ascend Meesapulimala - the second highest peak in the Western Ghats. We can see the world’s highest tea estate Kolukkumalai in the undulating hills below. We will descend and continue trekking through the sholas and tea gardens till we reach Silent Valley.

Drive through the famed Periyar Tiger Reserve on open jeeps and trek through the evergreen rain forest at Gavi. Get an opportunity to sight the endemic lion tail macaque and the Malabar giant squirrel.Reach Periyar. The Periyar tiger reserve is home to rare, endemic and endangered flora and fauna. This is the home range of the rare and endangered Lion Tailed Macaques, besides an excellent spot for birds & rare butterflies, as well as large herds of elephants and gaurs.  We will start our adventure with a jeep safari into the forests at Gavi, within the Periyar Tiger Reserve. On reaching the destination your breakfast will be served and afterwards we will head for trekking. The trek path will be through thick tropical rain forests and there are good chances of spotting wildlife. After the trek, transfer back to Periyar on jeeps.
